Chilean Cedar

The Chilean Cedar is an elegant, slow-growing evergreen conifer, forming a graceful, narrowly conical tree with distinctive flattened sprays of scale-like, dark green leaves. It typically reaches an ultimate height of 10-15m and a spread of 4-6m over many years in UK gardens. The foliage has a pleasant aromatic scent when crushed. This species thrives in full sun and prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil, ideally in a sheltered position, though it can tolerate some exposure once established. It is hardy in mild parts of the UK (H4-H5) but may require protection from cold, drying winds in harsher winters. An attractive specimen tree for a sheltered garden, offering a refined texture and form. Unusual and distinctive.
