Orach 'Red'

Atriplex hortensis 'Red', or Red Orach, is an ancient leafy vegetable that creates a stunning visual impact with its vibrant crimson-purple foliage. This fast-growing annual can reach an impressive height of 1-2 metres, with a spread of 30-60cm, and produces small, inconspicuous flowers. It is fully hardy and thrives in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. The young leaves have a mild, slightly salty flavour, similar to spinach, and can be used in salads or cooked. It's a striking edible ornamental, adding a splash of colour to the vegetable patch. RHS hardiness rating H6.
