Rustyback Fern
Asplenium ceterach, the Rustyback Fern, is an intriguing evergreen fern known for its ability to withstand significant dry periods by curling up its fronds, only to unfurl them again with moisture. Its striking, leathery fronds are a deep green on top with a distinctive covering of reddish-brown scales on the underside, hence its common name. It forms a neat rosette, typically 10-20cm in height and spread. H6 hardy, it thrives in partial shade and well-drained, alkaline conditions, often found growing on old walls and rocks. Unique and resilient.
