Pink Rock Jasmine 'Alba'
This charming white-flowered form of the Pink Rock Jasmine is a quintessential high-alpine plant. It forms low, moss-like tufts of narrow, dark green leaves that remain attractive year-round. In spring, tiny, pure white flowers with a yellow eye are held on short stems just above the foliage. It is particularly suited to the alpine house or a very well-managed scree garden in the UK, where it can be protected from excessive winter wetness. The plant requires a gritty, free-draining compost and a position that offers lots of light but stays relatively cool. It is an excellent choice for trough gardens and miniature landscapes. While small and delicate in appearance, it is remarkably resilient to cold temperatures, provided its roots never sit in water. Regular Top-dressing with grit helps protect the neck of the plant from rot. Its dainty habit makes it a favourite among specialist alpine enthusiasts and exhibitors.
