Juneberry / Serviceberry 'Robin Hill'
'Robin Hill' is a particularly fine cultivar of the Juneberry, selected for its upright, almost fastigiate habit when young, which gradually broadens into a neat oval shape. This makes it an excellent choice for smaller gardens where space is at a premium. In early spring, it is adorned with pale pink buds that open into a profusion of delicate, star-shaped white flowers. The young leaves emerge with a copper tint before maturing to a soft green in summer. In autumn, 'Robin Hill' consistently produces some of the most reliable and brilliant orange-red foliage colours. Small, dark-purple edible berries follow the flowers, which are a favourite for birds. It is a very hardy (H7) and adaptable tree, thriving in most well-drained soils, though it will produce the best autumn colour in neutral to acidic ground. It is also notably tolerant of damp conditions compared to other ornamental trees. It is a low-maintenance, high-reward specimen that offers four seasons of genuine interest.
