Sweet Sultan 'The Bride'

'The Bride' is an exquisite cultivar of Sweet Sultan, featuring pure white, thistle-like flowers with deeply fringed petals and a delicate, honey-like fragrance. This plant was a favorite in Victorian UK gardens and is currently seeing a well-deserved resurgence in popularity, particularly for cutting gardens. It grows to around 60cm and has a somewhat sparse, upright habit. The flowers are remarkably long-lasting when cut and add a touch of airy, romantic texture to bouquets. In the UK, Sweet Sultan is best sown directly where it is to flower in late spring, as it has a sensitive taproot and dislikes being transplanted. It requires a sunny, open position and a well-drained, ideally alkaline soil. It is relatively drought-tolerant once established but benefits from watering during particularly dry UK summer spells. This H3 hardy annual is a sophisticated addition to any white-themed border or cottage garden.
