Lace Aloe 'Cosmo'

Aloe 'Cosmo' is a vigorous hybrid that resembles a giant, robust version of the popular Lace Aloe. It forms a dense, spherical rosette of dark green, triangular leaves that are covered in small, white, raised bumps or 'pearls' and tipped with a soft white bristle. It is significantly more substantial than the species, often reaching 20-30cm in diameter. In summer, it produces a tall, branched flower spike with tubular, orange-red flowers that are a magnet for pollinators. While it is slightly hardier than many aloes (H3), it still requires protection from hard frosts and winter wetness in the UK. It makes an excellent container plant that can be moved outdoors to a sunny patio for the summer. 'Cosmo' is prized for its symmetrical geometry and the detailed texture of its foliage, which looks impressive even when the plant is not in flower. It is a reliable and easy-to-grow succulent for beginners.
