Giant Allium
Allium giganteum is a truly spectacular allium, living up to its name with towering flower stalks that can reach an impressive 1.5 metres in height. In early summer, it produces huge, dense, spherical heads, up to 20cm across, packed with tiny, star-shaped, rich purple flowers. This architectural marvel creates a dramatic focal point in borders, gravel gardens, or prairie-style plantings. Fully hardy and relatively low maintenance, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. The dried seed heads remain attractive for many weeks, providing extended interest. It's a magnet for bees and other pollinators, adding both grandeur and wildlife value to the garden.
