Queen Victoria Agave

Agave victoriae-reginae is a truly architectural and highly ornamental succulent, forming dense, spherical rosettes of dark green, stiff leaves with distinct white markings along their margins. This slow-growing agave is a stunning specimen for a large container in a sunny, sheltered spot during summer in the UK, or ideally, a frost-free conservatory or greenhouse year-round. It is not reliably hardy outdoors. After many years, a mature plant will produce a towering flower spike, followed by the death of the rosette, but offsets may form. Requires excellent drainage and full sun. A plant of incredible beauty and form.

Sun: Full sun.

Soil: Very well-drained gritty or sandy.

Hardiness: H2 — down to 1°C.

Flowering: Jun, Jul.
