Korean Mint 'Golden Jubilee'

'Golden Jubilee' is a stunning ornamental herb that was bred to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the All-America Selections. It is a hardy perennial with an upright, bushy habit, but its most striking feature is its brilliant lime-yellow foliage. The leaves are heart-shaped with serrated edges and emit a strong, minty-liquorice fragrance when crushed, common to the Korean Mint species. In late summer, the plant produces tall, dense spikes of tiny, tubular, lavender-blue flowers which create a breathtaking contrast against the bright yellow leaves. These flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. In the UK, this plant is best grown in full sun to ensure the foliage remains vibrant; if grown in too much shade, the leaves will turn a more standard lime-green. It requires well-drained soil and, while it is reasonably hardy, it may need protection from excessive winter wet. It is a fantastic choice for adding a pop of colour to the middle of a sunny herb border.
