Korean Mint 'Albiflora'
Agastache rugosa 'Albiflora' is a sophisticated white-flowered version of the Korean Mint, offering a cool, crisp look to the herb garden. This upright perennial reaches 80-100cm and is characterized by its serrated, heart-shaped leaves that emit a potent aniseed and liquorice aroma when crushed. The flowers are borne in dense, terminal spikes and are exceptionally long-lasting, providing structure well into autumn. In the UK, it is valued for its ability to attract a vast array of bees and hoverflies. While hardy to roughly -10°C (H4), it demands excellent winter drainage to survive the British winter; waterlogged soil will quickly kill the roots. The leaves and flowers can be used to make a refreshing herbal tea or added to salads for a sweet, minty kick. It looks particularly effective when planted in drifts within a gravel garden or a contemporary prairie-style planting scheme.
