Stonecress 'Warley Ruber'

A superb little sub-shrubby alpine that forms a dense, neat mound of blue-grey, needle-like evergreen foliage. In late spring and early summer, it is completely smothered in terminal clusters of deep, vibrant rose-pink flowers that are much more intense than the standard species. It is an ideal plant for the sunny rock garden, raised beds, or tucked into crevices in dry stone walls. To maintain its compact, cushions-like habit, it should be lightly trimmed after flowering. It thrives in poor, alkaline to neutral soils and requires excellent drainage to prevent winter rot. In a UK garden, it provides a reliable splash of colour and architectural form through the winter months. It is very drought-tolerant once established and performs best in the fullest sun available, making it perfect for south-facing positions. It is fully hardy across most of the British Isles.
