Crinkle-leaf Plant
This distinctive South African succulent is famous for its unusual foliage. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and wedge-shaped with a highly 'crinkled' or undulated top edge, giving it a unique texture. The stems are often covered in fine, reddish-brown aerial roots, which add to its curious appearance. The foliage is a soft lime-green and may have some light spotting. While it is mostly grown for its foliage, it does produce small, tubular, whitish flowers on a tall, slender stalk. In the UK, it is an H2 plant, meaning it must be kept indoors or in a heated greenhouse over winter. It is an excellent choice for a bright windowsill, as it stays relatively small and compact. Like most succulents, it requires a free-draining gritty compost and should be watered only when the soil is completely dry. It is easily propagated from single leaves, which will readily form new plantlets.
