Field Maple 'Queen Elizabeth'
Acer campestre 'Queen Elizabeth' is a fine cultivar of our native Field Maple, often used for hedging and screening in UK gardens, particularly where autumn colour is desired. It forms a dense, bushy hedge with typical deeply lobed green leaves that turn vibrant shades of golden-yellow in autumn, providing a beautiful seasonal display. This cultivar is known for its vigorous and upright growth habit. Small, inconspicuous greenish-yellow flowers appear in spring, followed by winged seeds. It is exceptionally hardy (H6) and tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, including heavy clay and chalk, and thrives in full sun to partial shade. An excellent choice for wildlife-friendly hedging.
