Subalpine Fir cultivar 'Green Globe'

This is a delightful dwarf cultivar of the Subalpine Fir, specifically selected for its tight, rounded habit. 'Green Globe' grows into a dense, spherical bush of soft, emerald-green needles, making it look almost like a mossy boulder in the garden. It is a very slow grower, typically only adding a few centimetres per year, which makes it an ideal specimen for a large rock garden, a heather bed, or a contemporary pot on a patio. Fully hardy (H7) in the UK, it thrives in regions with higher rainfall and cooler summers. It prefers a slightly acidic, moist but well-drained soil and a position in full sun to partial shade. The foliage emits a pleasant resinous fragrance when brushed against. Unlike the species, 'Green Globe' will never grow into a massive tree, but it provides consistent, year-round structure and a lovely splash of verdant green in the winter months. It is highly resistant to pests and diseases.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Moist, well-drained, acidic soil.
